Kuntze/Kontze/Kontzie
Kuntze/Kontze/Kontzie
Like many surnames, there were variations in the spelling of the Kontzie name. Some documents refer to the same person and yet spell the surname
either Kontzie or Kontze. The majority of the family uses Kontzie, but there are a few branches from the children of Charles David Kontzie who
still use Kontze. There is one newspaper article which refers to Charles David Kuntze as the founder of Copenhagen, Ontario, but that was likely
just a typographical error, as that article contained several.
Through research on the internet, it has been discovered that there are people in Germany, U.S.A., Australia, and New Zealand with the
last name of Kontze, but it is not known if there is a relation between any of these people. People in Denmark, along with many in
Canada, were found on the internet with the surname of Kuntze, but again it is not known if there is a relation.
