William Jamieson was born in Ireland circa 1820. William married Belinda (???) and had a son, Newton Ernest. The three of them travelled to Quebec during the Potato Famine (1845-1851) when Newton was 8 years old. Then in 1886 they travelled to Moosomin, Saskatchewan by train. They moved to McAuley, Manitoba ( map, top left) later on in the same year.
William was a farmer in addition to running a blacksmith shop. He died in 1918 and was buried in Welwyn, Saskatchewan.
